One of the authors, Jake Elliott, is a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Although his residence is in Chapel Hill, his heart lies in Pinehurst, NC, his hometown. He is majoring in Political Science and Philosophy with hopes of one day graduating from law school.

Sarah Benton

The author of “How Hurricanes are Formed” is Sarah Benton. Her home town is Wilmington, NC. Currently, she is  a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and plans to major in chemistry. She wants to pursue a career in medical researcher after graduating.

Nabila Sarki

Nabila Sarki is a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She plans to major in biology. She then hopes to pursue pharmacy or a career in public health.

Tyler Seawell

Tyler Seawell is a freshman at the University of North Carolina.  He is from a pottery community called Seagrove, where he, like his parents, has created his fair share of pottery.  He is majoring in Biology with a minor in Psychology, and he hopes to do research in this field of some form.

Brendan Moore

Another author, Brendan Moore, is currently completing his first year at the University of North Carolina. He left his hometown ofAtlanta, GA , to pursue his academic career and now resides in Chapel Hill. He plans to major in Business and minor in History during his time at Carolina. His interests in economics are what motivated him to write this article about Hurricane Katrina.
